The camp of Vice President Leni Robredo has welcomed the endorsement of Albay Rep. Jose Ma. "Joey" Salceda on her presidential bid despite not backing her running mate Sen. Francis 'Kiko' Pangilinan.

Salceda, who is a known ally of President Duterte, endorsed Robredo and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte for the country’s top posts in the May 2022 elections.
"This is an election. So anybody who will say, 'I am supporting the Vice President in her presidential run,' is obviously welcome. Elections are about addition. So, anybody who comes in, brings in support will obviously be welcome," lawyer and Robredo's spokesperson Barry Gutierrez said on Friday, Feb. 11.
Gutierrez said supporting candidates from different parties is a situation that cannot be avoided, especially as the country's electoral system is not requiring the public to vote for a tandem.
However, Gutierrez emphasized that Robredo is firm with her decision in choosing Pangilinan as her running mate and will continue to campaign for him.
" is her personal choice for vice president. She will be asking voters who support her to also support him. But if there are people who make other choices, then you know, there’s really nothing we can do about that," he said.
"We can try and convince as many voters and as many leaders we can to support the tandem and the entire slate, but at the end of the day, they will make their own choices and so long as they support the Vice President, then we will welcome their support," he added.
