Two robbers posing as members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) were arrested on Thursday, Feb. 10, in Pasay City.
Col. Cesar Paday-os, Pasay City police chief, identified the suspects as Eduardo Bernal, 34, of 0557 J. Luna St., Pasay City, and Diokno Abuan, 36, of Block 1 Purok 14, South Daang Hari, Taguig City.
Paday-os said the suspects are now detained at the Pasay City police custodial facility and charged with usurpation of authority and for violation of RA 10591 in relation to the Omnibus Election Code.
He said the suspects were arrested by patrolling policemen while roaming around at about 10:30 a.m. along EDSA corner Roxas Boulevard, Barangay 76 Zone 10, Pasay City.
In a report submitted to Paday-os by members of MOA Sub-Station 10, Cpl. Argie Ramos and Pat. Nomer Bernabe were dispatched to conduct anti-criminality patrolling and implementation of health and safety protocols when they were approached by a robbery victim identified as Teodolo Bacarro.
Bacarro told the patrolling policemen that he was robbed by the suspects early Thursday morning and the suspects were still roaming along EDSA possibly looking for another victim.
When the suspects were accosted by the patrolling policemen, they introduced themselves as policemen and said “tropa din.” They, however, failed to show identification cards (ID) to prove their claim to be members of the PNP.
Police recovered from the suspects two handcuffs, a .22 caliber revolver with five live ammunition, and a black replica pistol.
