The Pateros municipal government received P6 million aid from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) on Thursday, Feb. 10, to be used to purchase mobile tablets for indigent students.
Mayor Miguel “Ike” Ponce received the check from the PAGCOR Board headed by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Andrea Domingo at the PAGCOR Executive Office in Manila.

“With these grants, we hope that more students from public learning institutions will have a better fighting chance in life as we provide them with the tools needed in their education and personal advancement. We likewise hope that more teaching personnel will have better teaching aids that will improve the students’ learning experience,” said Domingo.
Also witnessing the turnover were PAGCOR President and COO Alfredo Lim, and PAGCOR Directors Carmen Pedrosa, Gabriel Claudio, and James Patrick Bondoc.
According to PAGCOR, the P6 million grant is intended for the purchase of nearly 700 mobile tablets for indigent senior high school students of Mayor Simplicio Manalo National High School and Pateros National High School in Pateros, the lone municipality in Metro Manila.
Ponce thanked PAGCOR for the latest assistance.
“Kami ay nagpapasalamat sa PAGCOR through Chairman Andrea Domingo sa napakalaking tulong. Isa lamang ito sa mga tulong na naibigay ng PAGCOR particularly itong panahon ng pandemya. Isa ito sa pinakamalaking tatanggapin namin this year, itong tulong na pambili ng tablets para masuportahan ang online classes ng senior high school students ng bayan ng Pateros (We thank PAGCOR through Chairman Andrea Domingo for this big help. This is only one of the assistance given by PAGCOR particularly during the pandemic. This is one of the biggest that we will receive this year, this assistance to purchase tablets to support the online classes of senior high school students in Pateros),” said Ponce.
PAGCOR also gave P2.5 million to the Occidental Mindoro State College (OMSC), which will be used to repair and replace the damaged laboratory equipment at the college’s Labangan and San Jose campuses.
