Believing that the upcoming elections is about young people, opposition coalition 1Sambayan is banking on the youth supporters of presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo to reach out to their fellow young voters to get more support for the vice president in the May polls.

"The best way of reaching out to young people is through the young people themselves who also are passionate about VP Leni's campaign," Bro. Armin Luistro, one of 1Sambayan convenors, said during the TAPATan Forum on Thursday, Feb. 10.
Luistro said social media has been one of the strongest driving forces influencing the youth as far as the upcoming national elections is concerned.
He added that getting the young supporters of Robredo to campaign for her to their fellows is among the reliable ways to counter the rampant misinformation on social media platforms.
"I've gone around a few and these are just a few of the sorties, I've seen them with my own eyes but I also viewed some of those that are posted on social media. I am so heartened by the fact that a lot of the campaign even in the provinces are really youth-led and that's why you'll see that a lot of the unusual exotic campaign strategies are being led by young people," Luistro said.
"And I think that makes a lot of sense because I think this election is about young people. Another 6 years of a bad president will have a terrible terrible impact on our young people and their dreams and I think that's what the young people are fighting for. This is the fight of their lives," he added.
The former Education secretary said the youth must engage their fellow youth in a conversation, not in a debate or word war, the same advocacy Robredo is fighting for.
He added that opening a conversation with their fellows is something the young people are good at and need not to be trained for it.
"More than just sa (on) social media, kailangan dalhin natin yung campaign sa tao sa tao at palagay ko talagang (we need to bring the campaign to people to people and I really think) our young people can do that, they don't need to be trained because young people are very good in person-to-person conversations," Luistro said.
"So palagay ko ito yung magiging kakaiba sa May 2022 elections (I think this will be the difference of May 2022 elections)," Luistro added.
