San Juan is No. 1 among Metro cities in COVID-19 pediatric, booster vaccinations

Mayor Francis Zamora announced on Thursday, Feb. 10, that the city of San Juan ranked first in pediatric vaccinations and booster jab deployment among all cities in Metro Manila.

In his Facebook post, Zamora said that a total of 736 children have been vaccinated on the first day of vaccination for the 5-11 age bracket on Feb. 7 based on the Department of Health's (DOH's) data. This made San Juan the city with the highest number of vaccinees in a day.

The city also yielded the highest number of boosted individuals with 58,930 doses given. This is equivalent to 54.99 percent of the target population set by the DOH.

Zamora lauded the city's vaccination team for achieving these feats.

"My deepest gratitude goes to our San Juan City vaccination team for all your efforts and for continuously improving our vaccination process for San JuaneÃ±os. You really are our modern day heroes," Zamora said.

The mayor also expressed his gratitude to his constituents for getting vaccinated and observing self-regulation in following the health and safety protocols against COVID-19. He said that this is also one of the main factors in the city's steady decline in the number of active cases.

"I would also like to thank our residents for becoming part of the solution and getting the vaccine and the booster shots, especially to the parents who had their children vaccinated so we can all look forward to living normal lives very soon," Zamora said.
