Robredo-Pangilinan coalition supporters to deploy poll watchers in all voting precincts nationwide
Opposition coalition 1Sambayan will be deploying poll watchers in all election precincts nationwide to guard the sanctity of votes during the election day in May.

Former Supreme Court associate justice Antonio Carpio, 1Sambayan lead convenor, disclosed about the coalition's plan during the Tapatan Forum on Thursday, Feb. 10.
"In 1sambayan we have drawn up plans for this, we will have poll watchers in all the 95, 000 precincts nationwide and our poll watchers will be armed with smartphone app so they will take pictures of the elections returns at the precinct level," Carpio said.
He said election returns are made available to the political parties and posted on the public places in the precinct on the election day.
This, he added, will help them ensure that election returns are not tampered. A random manual audit, which is permitted under the law, will also be key to guarding the sanctity of votes.
"So we have the source document (SD) and also if the SD card has been hacked, has been tampered to print out different result from those who actually voted, there is a random manual audit that the law says must be held at the close of voting hours on election day," Carpio said.
The random manual audit involves the physical count of the ballots to check whether it jives with the computer-generated election return.
Carpio said "if there is a variance" between the physical count and the computer-generated election return "then we know that the SD card has been tampered with."
"There's a lot of places, a lot of time where these SD cards can be replaced or be tampered in. So, the law has a built in mechanism to check this. The law says two precincts per legislative district nationwide and the random must be held at the close of voting hours on election day," he said.
"And we will insist that the law will be followed so there are ways of preventing the tampering of the operating system," Carpio added.
The coalition supports the candidacy of Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan, who are running for the two highest government positions in the land.
On Feb. 8, 1Sambayan also announced its support to eight senatorial candidates namely: former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, Senator Risa Hontiveros, Senator Leila De Lima, former Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat Jr., human rights lawyer Chel Diokno, Visayan lawyer Alex Lacson, labor lawyer Sonny Matula, and human rights lawyer Neri Colmenares.
