PH cyclone-free until Feb. 14 --- PAGASA

No weather disturbance is expected to neither affect nor develop in the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) until Monday, Feb. 14, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday, Feb. 10.

“Itong papasok na weekend ay wala tayong inaasahan na bagyo na maaaring mabuo o pumasok ng PAR. Kaya’t kung titignan natin over the following week ay still wala pa rin tayong bagyo hanggang dito sa pagpasok ng araw ng mga puso (No tropical cyclone is seen to develop nor enter the PAR this coming weekend. Over the following week, and until Valentine’s Day, we are expecting that the country will be cyclone-free),” said PAGASA weather specialist Raymond Ordinario in a public weather forecast.

However, several weather systems namely northeast monsoon, locally called “amihan,” and easterlies may bring cloudy skies and scattered light rains in various parts of the country.

Ordinario said that residents of Visayas, Caraga, Davao Region, and northern Mindanao should brace for the possible impacts of the easterlies, such as flash floods and landslides, during moderate to at times heavy rains.

He likewise stated that Cagayan, Apayao, Ilocos Region, the rest of Cagayan Valley, and Cordillera Administrative Region may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon.

Meanwhile, in the next 24 hours, Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms and easterlies.
