Gang member yields drugs, submachine gun in Pasay City buy-bust

A member of Batang City Jail (BCJ) was arrested during a buy-bust operation conducted by members of the Pasay City police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) and yielded shabu worth P53,720 and a sub-machine gun on Wednesday, Feb. 9 .

Pasay City police chief Col. Cesar Paday-os identified the suspect as Marvin Potento, 27, of Pasay City, who is listed in the police drug watchlist.

Paday-os said Potento was arrested at about 11:40 p.m. along Apelo Cruz St., Barangay 157 Zone 16, Pasay City during a buy-bust operation conducted by members of the SDEU.

He said members of the SEDU confiscated from Potento 11 heat-sealed plastic sachet containing about 7.9 grams of shabu.

The city police chief said that aside from shabu, a 9mm submachine gun with five live ammunition was also found in his possession which was placed inside a green backpack.

Paday-os said the suspect is now detained at the Pasay police custodial facility and charges for violation of illegal drugs and RA 10591 in relation to the Omnibus Election Code will be filed against him.

The recovered pieces of evidence were turned over to the Southern Police District (SPD) Forensic Unit for chemical analysis and ballistic examination.
