Policewoman from Zamboanga dies of COVID-19; virus death toll in PNP climbs to 127
A 39-year-old female police officer from Zamboanga City died of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), becoming the latest fatality among the growing list of coronavirus-related deaths in the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Data from the PNP released on Tuesday, Feb. 1, revealed that the victim was a member of the Zamboanga City Police Office's Plans and Programs Unit.
She was a police non-commissioned officer (PNCO) with a rank of Police Chief Master Sergeant (PCMS), the second highest rank among non-commissioned officers.
The fatality had a comorbidity of renal disease and diabetes but she was already fully vaccinated with Sinovac-CoronaVac vaccine, according to the PNP. She also had a flu vaccine last month.
She tested positive for COVID-19 last January 24 and died at the Zamboanga City Medical Center two days later.
With this, the PNP now has a total of 208 personnel who died due to COVID-19.
The total number of COVID-19 cases within the police organization reached 48,353 after it recorded 208 new cases as of Tuesday.
Included in the PNP cases were 46,737 recoveries and 1,489 active cases or those that are yet to recover.
