Catriona Gray and P-pop group SB19 lead this year's National Arts Month

Recognizing arts as a source and expression of hope

Miss Universe 2018 and Arts Ambassador Catriona Gray, and P-Pop boy group SB19 join the celebration of National Arts Month 2022 this February. SB19 is the newest Youth and Sentro Rizal Ambassador of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.

To show Catriona’s support in the annual celebration, she released “The Grand Reveal,” a short fashion film shot at the historic Metropolitan Theater. “I’m so excited to create a vision with an amazing group of creatives within the iconic Metropolitan Theatre,” she says. On her second year (going third) as NCCA Arts Ambassador, Catriona expressed that the thought of presenting an aspect of Philippine culture and arts in a creative and modern way always excites her.

On the same note, NCCA’s newest Youth and Sentro Rizal Ambassador, SB19, shared a message of support and an astonishing performance during the National Arts Month 2022 Virtual Press Conference.

With this year’s theme, “Sining ng Pag-asa,” the NCCA aims to recognize arts as a source and expression of hope as shown in the creative ways we respond to the effects of the pandemic, natural calamities, and other social realities, as well as the arts’ role in improving our community life as Filipinos.

The online celebration is mainly composed of the flagship projects of Subcommission on the Arts, led by its commissioner and National Committee on Cinema head, Dr. Rolando Tolentino. The seven national committees are Architecture and Allied Arts headed by LAr. Zenaida DC. Galingan, Dance headed by Dr. Shirley Halili-Cruz, Literary Arts headed by Dr. Julieta C. Mallari, Music headed by Dr. Felipe M. De Leon Jr., Dramatic Arts headed by Mr. Felimon B. Blanco, and Visual Arts headed by Geraldine B. Araneta.
