The director of the Korean zombie series “All of Us Are Dead” thanked viewers around the world after the series ranked No. 1 on Netflix in many countries.

A day after it was released on Jan. 28 on Netflix, “All of Us Are Dead” ranked No. 1 in 25 countries. On Jan. 30, it became No. 1 in 44 countries and in 46 countries on Jan. 31.

“It is incredible, amazing and grateful to be receiving such love in many countries around the world. I think it will be a great comfort to the actors and staff who have dedicated themselves to this work for the past two years,” said “All of Us Are Dead” director Lee Jae-kyoo, according to Korean media outlet E-Daily.

“All of Us Are Dead” is the first Korean Netflix series launched in 2022 and the director said, “There is a lot of pressure to open the first Netflix series in the new year of 2022, but I believe that passion and joy will reach the viewers as much as I enjoyed working on it.”

He said “All of Us Are Dead” was originally scheduled to be released in July last year but Netflix decided to release it before the Lunar New Year holiday.

“All of Us Are Dead” is based on the Korean webtoon “Now at Our School” that was released in 2009 and Lee Jae-kyoo said the Netflix series did not deviate much from the webtoon.

“The basic flow of the story and what we want to say in the drama are similar to the original. The flow of the story does not deviate too much from the original,” he said.

He added, “The specific character’s personality, the events that occur in the drama, and the way the children avoid the virus or react are slightly different, so you will feel the difference.”

“All of Us Are Dead” came after the hit Korean series “Squid Game” followed by “Hellbound.”

The series stars many actors who are not yet known by the public and according to the director, “I think that if actors who are unknown to the public but can act well participate in this work, it will help them to be more immersed in the drama.”

“I believe that if you watch the show, you will love the characters and the actors who play them more and more. Each character has a different role and charm,” he added.

The 12-episode “All of Us Are Dead” stars Park Ji-hu, Yoon Chan-young, Lomon, Cho Yi-hyun, Yoo In-soo, Lim Jae-hyeok and Lee Yoo-mi of the hit Netflix series “Squid Game.”

It tells the story of students who are trapped in their high school when zombies invade. They need to fight off the zombies to survive.
