Two apprehended for illegal possession of firearm, ammunitions in Kalinga

TABUK CITY, Kalinga -- Two men were arrested for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition in Purok 6, Bulanao Centro in this city on Friday, Dec. 9.

The Tabuk City Police Station reported that the two suspects were arrested as the operating troops went to Barangay Bulanao Centro here at around 11:20 a.m. to implement a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Jerson E Angog, Presiding Judge RTC, 2nd Judicial Region, Branch 25, Tabuk City, Kalinga against a certain Rico Palas for the crime of Robbery.

However, the target suspect was able to elude arrest upon sensing the presence of police.

His two cohorts, identified as Dandan Viloacorta, 18, and Edison Nalog, 21, who were having a drinking spree, tried to escape but were chased and apprehended by the operatives.

Seized from Viloacorta, single and resident of Barangay Apatan, Pinukpuk, was a Colt MK1V Caliber .45 with serial number 784128 with one magazine loaded with four ammunitions, while two ammunition were recovered from the possession of Nalog, single and also a resident of Barangay Apatan.

Operatives requested to show their license to own and possess firearms but failed to show any documents, prompting the operating troops to put them under arrest.

The two individuals are now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
