TIAONG, Quezon -- Hundreds of children aged 12 and below received an early Christmas cash gift from Mayor Vincent Arjay Mea on Friday, Dec. 9, during the switch-on ceremony of Christmas lights at the municipal building here.

Clad in Sta. Claus' costume, Mayor Mea made a surprise announcement that he was giving away cash gift to children who excitedly formed a long line to meet and greet the town’s chief executive.
It marked the first time that children received a cash gift from the chief executive in this town which is adopting ‘Sa Tiaong Ang Pasko ay Maliwanag’ as this year’s theme.
In his message, Mayor Mea urged his constituents to join hands and unite to withstand the challenges of time and attain economic prosperity under the battle-cry ‘Let’s Make Tiaong Stronger Together, Meaksyon Agad.”
An estimated crowd of 5000 spectators, Sangguniang Bayan members, barangay officials, and those belonging to non-government organizations witnessed the formal switching of lights in the municipal hall.
