P12.9-M marijuana bricks destroyed in Kalinga

TINGLAYAN, Kalinga – Authorities discovered five sacks containing 108 marijuana bricks worth P12.9 million in Tulgao East here on Wednesday, Dec. 7.

The Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Kalinga received information that a marijuana plantation exists in the area.

They proceeded to the location to conduct a eradication operation through “Oplan: Akhilid” but discovered that the marijuana plants had been harvested.

The team scoured the area for other possible marijuana plantations and found five abandoned sacks containing 108 bricks of marijuana weighing one kilo each worth over P12 million.

The contraband was burned onsite.
