Filipino worker dies while working at a Qatar resort—DFA

An overseas Filipino worker died while working at a resort in Mesaieed, Qatar, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.

"It is with regret that the Philippine Embassy in the State of Qatar confirms the death of a Filipino national who unfortunately met his demise while working at a resort in Mesaieed," the DFA said in a statement on Thursday night, Dec. 8.

According to the DFA, the embassy is coordinating with legal authorities to ascertain more details of his passing.

"They will remain in contact with the next of kin of the deceased as they work for the earliest repatriation of his remains," the DFA said.

Out of respect to the family, the Foreign Affairs department also opted to not provide further details about the incident at this time.

"The Embassy sends its thoughts and prayers (with) the family in this difficult time," the DFA said.
