Azurin, Fernando inspect fireworks stalls in Bocaue, Bulacan

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. and Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando inspected the pyrotechnic stalls at Dinglasan Compound in Barangay Turo, Bocaue, Bulacan on Thursday, Dec. 8.

Department of Labor and Employment Regional director Geraldine M. Panlilio, Vice Governor Alexis C. Castro, Mayor Eduardo J. Villanueva, and the pyrotechnics regulatory board also participated in the inspection.

In a press conference held before the ocular inspection, Azurin said fireworks dealers in the province are now on 24-hour operation as people continue arriving to buy firecrackers and pyrotechnics, all excited to welcome the New Year.

The PNP chief urged those unlicensed manufacturers to legalize their products to avoid accidents or explosions.

Azurin also urged the public not to patronize prohibited firecrackers in welcoming the New Year.

Gen. Azurin was also accompanied by Brig. Gen.Cesar Pasiwen, Central Luzon police regional director during the inspection.

The inspection of fireworks stalls was not only held in Bocaue but also in other areas in the province which the Bulacan cops, headed by Col. Relly B. Arnedo, are now closely monitoring.

Bulacan’s “Task Force: Paputok” also regularly makes rounds on the rows of fireworks stores in Bulacan.

Earlier, the PNP also inspected the compound of the Dragon Fireworks in San Rafael, Bulacan to ensure that safety and zoning provisions of the firecracker law are strictly followed.

Fernando and Castro called the attention of the fireworks dealers to strictly follow the safety provisions of the law and to personally check if their fire extinguishers and other fire-fighting equipment are in good working condition.
