RLUC endorses 10-year development plans of LagunaBatangas provinces

LAGUNA -- The Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) Regional Land Use Committee (RLUC) has endorsed the Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan (PDPFP) 2021-2030 of Laguna and PDPFP 2022-2030 of Batangas to their respective Sangguniang Panlalawigan during the RLUC’s 2nd semester meeting recently.

Laguna's PDPFP envisions the province as a premier province of the Philippines by 2030 with God-loving people, progressive and diverse communities, a globally competitive economy, and a balanced and resilient environment, which is motivated by responsible leaders on the path of nation-building.

Laguna Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator (PPDC) Pablo V. Del Mundo, Jr. said that Laguna’s development direction in the next 10 years will be realized by three spatial development strategies.

First, the full industrialization, high urbanization in its first and second districts; second, eco-tourism and environmental protection in its second, third, and fourth districts, and third, the agri-industrialization in its third and fourth districts of the province.

On the other hand, Batangas PDPFP 2022-2030 envisions a ‘Rich Batangas: A home of God-centered, noble, self-reliant, and resilient Batangueños; that provides opportunities and empowers its people to achieve their full potentials, high aspirations, and ideals.’

According to Batangas PPDC Evelyn L. Estigoy, the province aims for a balanced agri-industrial modernization, tourism management, and ecologically sustainable development.

She also highlighted their growth center spatial strategies such as the Metro Batangas Urban Growth Center, which houses port-oriented and heavy manufacturing industries; the Metro Lipa Urban Growth Corridor, which hosts several service-oriented and light industries, and the Agri-Tourism Growth Clusters, which are primarily for protection and production land uses.

The endorsement is conditional upon the provinces’ integration of recommendations from the RLUC members as well as the submission of required documents to the regional offices of NEDA and the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development.

The PDPFP is the primary technical guide on the development of a province. It links the provinces’ development priorities and agenda to the regional and national levels.

Recently, the provincial government of Batangas headed by Governor Hermilando Mandanas, conducted a ‘Batangas Development Summit 2022’ at Lima Park Hotel in Lipa City that focuses on the opportunities for economic and social development.

Also it tackled the contributions, plans, and programs for the sustainable development of Batangas by both the private and public sectors.
