PPA implements 'No Leave Policy' as influx of ship passengers expected for Christmas season

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has implemented a 'No Leave Policy" for all its personnel in anticipation of the Holiday rush of passengers expected to go on vacation and to their respective hometowns to celebrate the Yuletide season.

PPA General Manager Jay Santiago said the cancellation of all leaves of absence took effect on Dec. 5 and will be until Jan. 6 next year.

"This period is considered as peak season so we really need maximum number of our personnel to needs of the passengers, especially with regard to their safety and travel comfort" said Santiago.

He said the order was already relayed to all head offices and Port Management Offices (PMOs).

Based on the PPA data from January to October this year, more than 2.9 million passengers were recorded at the Port of Matnog and the agency expects the influx of people especially that travel restrictions were already lifted.

At the North Harbor, Santiago said they expect more than 40,000 passengers in the month of December.
