The arrest of six agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in an operation in Taguig City will not affect the strong partnership between the agency an the Philippine National Police (PNP).
In a statement released on Wednesday, Dec. 7, PDEA said the operation that resulted in the arrest of its personnel was properly coordinated by the PNP.
“Both organizations have agreed to strengthen their collaborative efforts in order to deal decisive and crippling blows to organized local and international drug syndicates, including going after scalawags in drug law enforcement," the statement read.
“The PDEA-PNP alliance stands in solid ground and remains committed as ever. All those years built on trust and confidence continue to bear fruit,’’ it added.
More than P9 million worth of shabu was seized during the operation.
Currently, PDEA is doing an internal investigation to get to the bottom of the case and determine the ones culpable.
“PDEA is also shoring up its internal counter-intelligence efforts within its ranks to preserve the agency’s integrity and moral ascendancy to serve the public,’’ PDEA continued (Chito A. Chavez)
