No surgery needed for Alyssa Valdez, says team management

Creamline Cool Smashers skipper Alyssa Valdez won’t need any surgery after sustaining a right knee injury during Tuesday, Dec. 6, during their bronze-medal match in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference.

The team management disclosed this Wednesday, Dec. 7, adding that the multi-titled player has only been advised several weeks of rest and rehabilitation.

“Management will ensure that Alyssa gets the best possible care and treatment for her to come back stronger in due time,” the statement read.

Valdez hurt her knee while going for a dig during the third set of Game 2 of their bronze-medal match against the Chery Tiggo Crossovers.

She had 10 points at that time and never came back on court, but stayed at the bench throughout the match to support her team despite offers to bring her to the hospital.

The Cool Smashers eventually swept the best-of-three affair with a 25-15, 25-19, 23-25, 25-21, and sealed their 10th consecutive podium finish since joining the league back in 2017.

Valdez, who also won the 1st Best Outside Spiker award, will have time to recuperate as the next PVL season will happen in February next year.
