Drug pusher eludes arrest in Leyte buy-bust

TACLOBAN CITY – A suspected drug pusher eluded arrest but yielded over P380,000 worth of shabu in a buy-bust operation in Baybay City, Leyte.

Police identified the suspect as Jonas Dargantes Mejia, 47, a resident of Baybay City and a high-value individual of the Police Regional Office 8.

Reports reaching the PRO-8 headquarters disclosed that the police poseur-buyer purchased suspected shabu worth P202,000 from the suspect.

Police rushed toward the towards the house of the suspect to arrest him but he escaped by exiting the back door of his house.

Recovered in the house with a drug-sniffing dog were a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, a caliber .45 pistol with magazine and bullets, the P202,000 boodle money, cash, and other paraphernalia.

Police are pursuing the suspect who faces drug and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition charges.
