Probe on alleged 'fighting incident' at Colegio San Agustin ongoing

The investigation on the alleged fighting incident at Colegio San Agustin (CSA) is ongoing.

Officials of CSA, a private, Catholic, co-educational basic education institution in Makati, launched their investigation on the alleged “fighting incident” involving two of its students that took place on Monday, Dec. 5.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Dec. 6, CSA disclosed that the guard who responded found two students who “needed medical assistance” in the boys’ comfort room. Its Coordinator for Campus Discipline, Safety and Security, who also responded, later found out that the incident was “not an accident, but a fighting incident” involving Grade 9 students.

CSA, in the same statement, reiterated that the school is “taking the matter seriously” with “extreme urgency and importance,” adding that the school does not tolerate or condone all forms of violence.

The Department of Education (DepED), following this statement, said it has already instructed its Schools Division Office to “coordinate” with CSA.

“DepEd, through its Learner Rights and Protection Office, has been spearheading efforts against bullying, as well as all forms of abuse, in our schools. The alleged fighting incident involves a private school, over which DepEd only has reasonable supervision and regulation,” said the department.

“We were informed that an investigation on the matter is already being conducted by school officials. We shall continue to monitor the developments,” it furthered.
