LTFRB urges commuters to report EDSA Busway drivers charging fares

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) urged the public to immediately report bus drivers or conductors who ask for fare for the EDSA Busway.

In a statement, the LTFRB said it has traffic inspectors and enforcers of the Inter-Agency Council on Traffic (I-ACT) stationed at the EDSA Busway stations 24/7 who could immediately act on any complaint.

The EDSA Busway program, which offers free ride to commuters along the EDSA route, was extended this month in anticipation of influx of passengers for the Christmas season.

The national government, through the Department of Transportation, has contracted bus operators for the EDSA free bus ride.

The LTFRB said it is also investigating reports of EDSA Busway drivers asking fare from the passengers.

The agency added that they are also monitoring the reports of shortage of buses.

"We are monitoring this report in order to identify areas and routes which need deployment of more buses," the LTFRB statement read.
