Small-scale miner dies in Kalinga cave collapse

PASIL, Kalinga – A 35-year-old miner died after the cave he was mining collapsed in Sitio Magadgad, Barangay Galdang, Pasil, Kalinga on Sunday, Dec. 4.

The Pasil Municipal Police Station identified the victim as Milnar Wa-il Bag-ayan, 35, single, a resident of Barangay Galdang, Pasil.

Police said the small-scale miner entered the “Minahan ng Bayan” at 3 p.m. on Dec. 3 but failed to emerge and return to their camp at 6 a.m. on Dec. 4.

His colleagues searched for Bag-ayan and found him in the cave under eroded boulders.

They reported the incident to the police and retrieved the victim.

A doctor from the rescue team tried to revive the victim to no avail.
