Security guard arrested for indiscriminate firing in Calamba


CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – A security guard was arrested for alleged indiscriminate firing in Barangay Mayapa on Saturday, Dec. 3.

Calamba City Police Station (CPS) cops responded after getting a report about the incident from the Barangay Public Safety Officer on duty.

Confiscated from the suspect's possession were a .38-caliber revolver with defaced serial number, five cartridge cases, and a fired cartridge case.

The arrested suspect is now under the custody of Calamba CPS and is facing charges for violating the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

In a statement, Laguna Police Provincial Office director Col. Randy Glenn G. Silvio reiterated that firearms should not be used as toys. He added that the police is focusing on intensified operations against loose firearms in the province.
