CEBU CITY – Property worth more than P12 million was destroyed in two separate fires here on Sunday, Dec. 4.
The first fire occurred past 1 .a.m. in Barangay Mambaling where at least 150 houses were destroyed. It took more than two hours before firefighters were able to put out the fire.
Fire Officer 3 Emerson Arceo, investigator of the Cebu City Fire Office, said damage was pegged at P3.7 million. At least 300 families were affected.
Arceo said initial investigation showed that the fire started after an e-tricycle was left unattended and exploded while being charged in a house.
The second fire broke out at past 10 a.m. in Barangay Dapdap. The fire destroyed two commercial buildings and damaged one other.
The fire was immediately put out before it spread to other structures, Arce said. The cause of the fire was not immediately known, Arceo added.
