DICT introduces free professional ICT training designed by Google

Backed by its goal to open more opportunities in the field of ICT, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) opened access to free Google Career certificates.

“Right-skilling and right-tooling are more accessible now with the Google Career Certificates Program. We encourage our citizens to apply for the scholarship and take advantage of free professional training, designed by one of the world’s tech giants,” said DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy.

DICT, in a press statement issued on Monday, Dec. 5, said the free training will cover the following ICT-related topics: Data Analytics, User Experience Design, Project Management, and IT support.

“Through this program, Filipinos can prepare for a new career in the high-growth field of ICT without any prior experience, while connecting to top employers,” said DICT.

Interested registrants should be 18 years old and above, a Filipino citizen and resident, and should be able to complete the online course through their own device.

According to the agency, “priority nomination” will likewise be observed, with the order of preference being people who are part of the disadvantaged or unemployed segments, persons who are likely to hold “less stable jobs,” vocational students, as well as university learners who are pursuing technology-related courses.

Individuals who are aiming to take part in the Google Career Certificates Program may apply through DICT’s regional offices.
