BOC exceeds November revenue collection target

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has again surpassed its monthly revenue collection, this time, for the month of November as it hit an increase of P26.7 billion from its target of P60.6 billion.

BOC Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz said that based on collection reports from all collection districts, a total of P76.770 billion was collected for the month of November.

"All 17 collection districts of the agency also achieved their cumulative revenue targets for 11 months," said Ruiz.

In Nov. 11, the BOC has already reached its collection target for 2022 by hitting P790.301 billion, an accomplishment described as its highest collection performance in history.

The BOC's revenue target for 2022 is P721.52 billion.

"This means the Bureau is already P68.781 billion or 9.5 percent above its annual target as of November 30," said Ruiz.

Ruiz lauded all BOC employees for the accomplishments and also attributed them to the reforms that were expedited and implemented under the leadership of Commissioner Ruiz that paved the way in plugging revenue leakages and sustaining a positive collection performance.

Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno earlier expressed confidence that the BOC's revenue surplus may cover the shortfall of other national revenue-generating agencies. Secretary Diokno was optimistic that the government would reach its collection goal with the Bureau's substantial contribution.
