Man stabs uncle-turned-stepfather to death in Negros

BACOLOD CITY -- A man died after he was stabbed by his nephew at their house in Barangay Gahit, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental on Saturday, Dec. 3.

Maj. Kenneth Jay Gratones, E.B. Magalona police chief, said that grudges over gossip triggered the suspect identified as Loyd Richard Tuting, 19, to kill his uncle-turned-stepfather Renante Tuting, 44.

Gratones said the victim reportedly came home drunk and began gossiping about the suspect.

This irked the suspect and prompted him to confront the victim, Gratones said.

A heated argument then followed that led to a commotion.

The suspect allegedly stabbed the victim, hitting him in the chest. The victim was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.

Gratones said the suspect had grudges against the victim because of the alleged gossip he made especially when he’s drunk.

Gratones said the victim and the suspect’s father are brothers. However, when the latter died, the victim married the suspect’s mother, he added.

Homicide charges will be filed against the suspect, who is under police custody.
