CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – The Police Regional Office 4-B (Mimaropa or the Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan area) will remain visible in all travel routes, transport terminals, and other places of convergence, including tourist sites, in the region.

Brig. Gen. Sidney S. Hernia, PRO 4-B chief, said they are committed in ensuring the safety and security of the people in the region as they spend quality time with their families and loved ones during the New Year’s celebration.
Hernia reported a significant crime downtrend in the region for the month of December.
Data from the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division revealed that 274 crimes were recorded from Dec. 1 to 25, a 23.25 percent decline compared to the 357 crime incidents in the previous year.
Seventy-seven incidents in the eight focus crimes (murder, homicide, physical injuries, rape, theft, robbery, carnapping, and motornapping) were recorded in the period compared to 99 in the previous year, a decrease of 22.22 percent.
Among the crimes that showed a remarkable decrease include physical injuries (45 percent), rape (44.44 percent), and carnapping (33.33 percent). “I commend the men and women of PRO Mimaropa in their relentless effort to maintain peace and order region-wide in this Yuletide season. Let us maintain this vigor throughout the New Year’s celebration,” Hernia said.
