Three people were injured in a fire that broke out in a cold storage room at Navotas Fisheries Port Complex (NFPC), Brgy. North Bay Boulevard North, Navotas City on Saturday, Dec. 31.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) identified the injured victims as Jay-ar Perez, 33, Jeffrey Mastango, 28, and Mark Allen Palamaga 24.
BFP declared the first alarm at 2:28 p.m. and raised to second and third alarms at 2:35 p.m.
The fire was declared under control at 5:54 p.m.
BFP said members of the Special Rescue Force responded to inspect a suspected ammonia leak in the area during the incident at 6:26 p.m.
The fire was extinguished at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1.
The firefighters said the affected structures were made from light materials which made the fire spread immediately.
They added the alleged ammonia leak from the crystal ice facility also delayed them from putting out the fire.
More than 20 trucks responded to extinguish the fire, BFP said.
The authorities are still investigating the cause of the blaze.
