The Department of Transportation (DOTr)'s P8.4 Billion "Libreng Sakay" (Free Ride) scheme under its Service Contracting Program (SCP) ends today, Saturday, December 31, 2022.
The program has already exhausted its P7 billion allocation under the 2022 General Appropriations Act (GAA) as well as the additional P1.4 billion funds which the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) provided on August 16, 2022.
But for 2023, the GAA has approved P1.285 billion for the SCP, the DOTR announced.

To date, the agency is calibrating its existing land transport programs to serve the increasing number of commuters.
The DOTr is working with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to implement the free ride program nationwide in 2023, with the cooperation of the Local Government Units (LGUs).
