Batangas village dad hurt in shooting incident


LIPA CITY, Batangas – A 40-year-old barangay councilor was shot and wounded in an indiscriminate firing incident in a barangay fiesta on Friday, Dec. 30, in Barangay Rizal here.

Police identified the victim as Roberto Arañez, a councilor of Barangay Rizal.

Investigation said the suspect, Neil Bryan Sison, a resident of Barangay Malaya in Rosario, Batangas, and his companions were having a drinking spree and fired his gun in the air.

Aranez was informed of the incident and tried to calm Sison down but the suspect fired at the victim who sustained bullet wounds.

The victim was taken to a hospital while the suspect fled onboard a motorcycle.

Police have launched a manhunt against Sison.

Recovered from the crime scene were three fired cartridge cases and two live bullets for a caliber .45.
