37 people arrested in Muntinlupa for selling firecrackers, using open mufflers
Authorities have arrested 37 people for violating ordinances banning the sale of firecrackers and use of open pipe mufflers on Dec. 30 and 31.
Personnel from the Muntinlupa police conducted an entrapment operation in Purok 1, Barangay Bayanan that resulted in the arrest of three vendors for selling firecrackers.


They were identified as Richard Belza, 35; Ervin Joshua Villanueva, 20; and John Shelly Hernandez, 31.
Muntinlupa City Ordinance No. 14-092 prohibits “the manufacture, display, sale, distribution, possession or use of firecrackers or pyrotechnic devices and such other similar devices and the exploding of firecrackers or other similar explosives within the territorial jurisdiction of Muntinlupa City.”
According to the Muntinlupa police, the personnel were conducting an anti-criminality operation when they received a tip about an ongoing sale of firecrackers.
The entrapment operation was conducted with an undercover cop being able to buy a bundle of whistle bombs.
Police were able to confiscate 1,000 rounds of Sawa, four Golden Bee Fountains, one Silver Fountain Super Jumbo, eight Silver Fountain, 30 lucis, 80 Kingkong/Plapla Triangle, 128 whistle bombs and two Golden Fountains with an estimated value of P21,000.
A complaint for violation of Ordinance No. 14-092 is being prepared by the police against the suspects.
Meanwhile, the Muntinlupa City government reported on Dec. 31 that 34 persons were caught violating the ban on the use of open mufflers under Ordinance No. 04-22.
It said penalties for violating the ordinance range from P1,000 to P5,000.
