Shear line, 'amihan' bring rains over parts of Luzon; isolated rains elsewhere — PAGASA

The shear line and northeast monsoon may continue to bring cloudy and rainy weather in several parts of Luzon, while isolated rains may prevail elsewhere, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Friday, Dec. 30.

PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail over Cagayan, Isabela, and the northern portion of Aurora due to the shear line—a boundary line where the cold and warm air masses meet and cause rains.

Cloudy skies with rains due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan” may also prevail over Apayao, Kalinga, Aurora, Quirino, Batanes, and Nueva Vizcaya.

PAGASA warned those in areas affected by the shear line and amihan to stay vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, Ilocos Region and the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light amihan rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA also advised the public to remain vigilant as severe thunderstorms may also cause flash floods or landslides, especially in areas prone to these hazards.
