P60,000 seized illegal firecrackers destroyed in Region 2

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – Police on Friday, Dec. 30, destroyed all confiscated illegal firecrackers and pyrotechnics in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) worth a total of P59, 715.

Regional Civil Security Unit 2 assistant chief Lt. Col. Romulo Talay said these were picollo, poppop, five star, pla-pla, lolo thunder, giant bawang, whistle bomb, super lolo, large Judas belt, Bin Laden, mother rocket, kwitis, and luces.

Their destruction and disposal at the PRO2 Grandstand here were led by Police Regional Office 2 director Brig. Gen. Percival Antolin Rumbaoa, other PRO2 officers, and Bureau of Fire Protection personnel.

Rumbaoa said the series of operations conducted by the PNP was a big help in curbing the number of firecracker-related injuries in Cagayan Valley during the holiday season.

He reminded police in the region to avoid indiscriminate firing and using illegal firecrackers during the New Year celebration.
