P28-M worth of humanitarian aid delivered to flood-hit areas in Bicol, Visayas, Mindanao — DSWD

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), local government units (LGUs), and DSWD partners have provided at least P28 million worth of food and non-food items as resource augmentation to areas affected by widespread flooding caused by incessant rains in Bicol region and parts of Visayas and Mindanao.
Based on the report of the DSWD, as of Dec. 29, P28 million worth of assistance was already distributed to the affected areas in Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Soccsksargen, Caraga, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
Of the total assistance, P25.9 million came from the DSWD, P1.9 million from LGUs, and P220,855 from DSWD partners.
The shear line—a boundary line where cold and warm air masses meet and cause rains—has affected 125,796 families or 505,970 individuals from 837 barangays.
There are 11,478 displaced families or 52,217 persons staying in 110 evacuation centers in Bicol Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, and Caraga.
Meanwhile, 2,438 families, or 9,169 individuals displaced by flooding, are staying outside the evacuation centers.
DSWD has at least P100 million worth of standby funds or quick response funds, P349-million worth of family food packs, and P796 million worth of food and non-food items that are readily available for distribution.
