Muntinlupa police have confiscated more than 1,500 pieces of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices amid a ban in the city.
Muntinlupa City Ordinance No. 14-092 prohibits “the manufacture, display, sale, distribution, possession or use of firecrackers or pyrotechnic devices and such other similar devices and the exploding of firecrackers or other similar explosives within the territorial jurisdiction of Muntinlupa City.”


Col. Angel Garcillano, Muntinlupa police chief, has deployed personnel to implement the ordinances on the ban on the use of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices, and open mufflers on motorcycles.
The Muntinlupa police’s six substations have conducted 36 operations against firecrackers in the city.
As of 4 p.m. on Dec. 30, the Muntinlupa police have confiscated 1,570 pieces of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices consisting of 16 whistle bombs, 200 Five-star, 15 Boga, 806 lucis, 100 Super Lolo, one Higad, two Sinturon ni Hudas, 210 kwitis, 72 fountains, and 48 Fantasy Wands.
Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon urged people to follow the ordinances and ordered law enforcers to strictly implement them.
He also encouraged people to send him photos of violators.
