BACOLOD CITY -- A man died while his three passengers were wounded after their multicab collided with a delivery van at Crossing Kamote, Barangay Pasil, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental on Thursday, Dec. 29.
Killed in the accident was Jimmy Fernandez Jr., 28, driver of the multicab.
Jomarie Diojoy, 35; Eleazar Senilong, 18; and Kenjery Recto, 19, all residents of Talisay City, suffered minor injuries, according to Lt. Minardo Ellaga, deputy police chief of E.B. Magalona Municipal Police Station.
Ellaga said that based on the statement of the delivery van driver, he allegedly avoided a sports utility vehicle (SUV) he was tailing, causing him to overlap into the opposite lane and collided with a multicab.
Ellaga said the victims were on their way home when the accident happened.
The delivery van driver and the multicab driven by Fernandez were believed to be speeding when the collision happened, he added.
Ellaga said the van driver, who is from Cebu, is facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to properties.
