Mayor Honey distributes cash assistance, grocery packs to Quiapo fire victims

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna distributed on Friday, Dec. 30, grocery packs and cash assistance to families affected by the fire incident in Barangay 388, Manila last Dec. 29.

The Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW) has already registered 424 affected families or 1,574 individuals who are temporarily staying in Barangay 388 Covered Court and G. Santiago Elementary School.

Each family received financial assistance worth P10,000. They were also given bed foams, hot meals, and grocery packs.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire incident resulted in the death of six residents and injury of four others.

The mayor extended her condolences to the families of the victims who died in the fire incident.

"Nakikiramay po ang pamahalaang lungsod ng Maynila sa nangyari po sa inyo. Wala naman po ang may gusto nito, pero nandyan na po 'yan. Ang kailangan po natin ay makabangon kayo kahit papaano (The city government of Manila sympathizes with what happened to the victims. What we need now is for the victims to recover)," she said.

The city government also provided burial and funeral assistance to the families of the deceased victims.
