LTFRB: 802 buses given special permits to augment public transpo
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said Friday, Dec. 30, that it has issued special permits to 802 buses to allow them to ply special routes and augment public transportation during the holiday season.

LTFRB Chairman Teofilo Guadiz III said the additional bus units will help stabilize the high demand of ridership from the existing provincial routes amid the Christmas and New Year’s Day festivities.
He said the LTFRB also decided to extend the validity of the special permits to Jan. 15, 2023.
“The Board decided to extend the SP of PUVs to provide our commuting public more chances to get a ride going home to their families and loved ones during the New Year and beyond,” Guadiz said.
“Our ultimate goal is to give them convenience and comfort in their travel,” he added.
The LTFRB started giving out special permits to operators and drivers of public utility vehicles (PUVs) so they can travel special routes in anticipation of the influx of travelers this holiday season.
Aside from this, the LTFRB also established help desks and deployed personnel in all integrated terminal exchanges (ITX) and private bus terminals “to ensure the safety of all travelers especially those who are returning from the holiday vacation.”
These will be operational until the first week of January 2023, according to LTFRB Central Office Technical Division chief Joel Bolano.
“We have established helpdesk in coordination with other government agencies to assist passengers, conduct pre-departure inspection of the buses and provide onsite personnel to issue additional special permits if needed,” Bolano stated.
