ILOILO CITY — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) reminded consumers in Western Visayas to buy certified firecrackers for the New Year.

Judith Degala, officer-in-charge regional director, said certified firecrackers must have a Philippine Standards (PS) sticker. A product with the sticker means it has been tested by the DTI before it is sold in the market.
Consumers in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental as well as the highly urbanized cities of Bacolod and Iloilo were reminded to check if these are legal brands.
DTI-6 has 14 certified fireworks brands in the region -- Dragon Fireworks, Diamond Firework, Legendary Fireworks, Pegasus Fireworks, Phoenix Fireworks, Double L Fireworks, Nation Fireworks, Leonardo’s Fireworks, Andy’s Fireworks, Pyro Kreations Fireworks, Yangco Fireworks, Star Light, Santiago Fireworks, and 4SURE Fireworks.
Degala said that there are currently no imported firecrackers sold in the local market despite having the Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) stickers.
Composite teams of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and DTI are continuously monitoring sales of firecrackers across the region.
