The Next Gen car key is already here
If you have relatives in the US, chances are, you’ve heard of them brag about how they can control their new Tesla with just their phone. It can do everything from start the vehicle, tell you where it is, or even give a readout of the vehicle’s status. If you’re the kind that enjoys these kinds of high-tech conveniences, the wait is thankfully over.
Ford Philippines has officially launched a similar technology in the country, making it available in the next-gen Everest and Ranger starting December.

That technology is called FordPass, an application that customers can download on their mobile devices to control certain vehicle functions remotely. With FordPass, customers whose vehicles are equipped with FordPass Connect can access a number of features like remote start/stop, lock/unlock, find the vehicle’s location, and even check the fuel level, all while being far away from the car.

FordPass works on mobile devices running on Android 7.0 and above and iOS 14.0 and above, and can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Make your Ford smarter
To get started, customers only need to create an account and enter some basic information like their name, mobile number, and a four-digit pin. They will then need to add a vehicle by entering vehicle identification details. After the account has been created and the vehicle has been added, customer will be able to access several remote features.

These include things like Vehicle Status. These give you a readout of how much fuel you have as well as your odometer reading even if you’re far away from your vehicle. It also shows you the oil health to give you an idea of when you might need to schedule an oil change. On top-of-the-line models, there’s also a tire pressure monitor which shows you the exact pressure of each tire.
There’s also the Vehicle Locator. If you forgot where you parked, this handy tool will show where your car is and help you find it. If it’s with a driver, you can also see where it is. If it was stolen, this will also be handy to determine where it was taken to.
One features many owners will appreciate is the Remote Unlock. If you’re carrying quite a lot of bags, you can already unlock the doors from a distance so you don’t have to fumble for your keys. There are controls for the lights and horn as well to help you find the car in a parking lot.

If the car has been parked in the sun all day, you can also activate the Remote Vehicle Start. This turns on the engine and air conditioner (if you left it on before turning off) to cool the cabin to your set temperature.

An assistant you can rely on
If you have a tight routine to follow, you can also get the car to help you out. If you leave the house at a set time every day, you can also schedule a vehicle start. This can start the car, for example, at 7:55 AM every day, warming up the car and cooling the cabin to your desired temperature. This will allow you to leave at precisely 8:00 AM.
If there are things about the car you don’t quite understand, Ford Pass also give you Access to Guides. The guide are a team of experts available via phone call or e-mail to answer any app-related questions.
There’s no need to worry about getting a SIM card for your car. FordPass uses the data signal of the connected phone or your WiFi signal at home to give you relevant updates. It can also help amplify that signal for other passengers in the car or extend the reach of your current WiFi signal around the garage. Finally, FordPass also ensures your car is up to date by using that same signal to download and install over-the-air updates for the vehicle’s software, reducing the need to visit the service center for software updates.

“FordPass will drive the future of the Ford ownership experience, and we’re very excited to finally be able to launch it in the Philippines to benefit our customers who are technologically-savvy and always on the go,” said Mike Breen, managing director, Ford Philippines. “With FordPass, it’s like having a personal assistant for your Ford vehicle. We leverage on connectivity to offer our customers a smarter and simpler way of owning a Ford.”
FordPass is now available for owners of all variants of the next generation (2022) Ranger and Everest.
