Border control and intelligence operatives of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) have arrested a suspected human trafficker at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), the bureau announced on Friday, Dec. 30.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said the 62-year-old Filipina, whose name was temporarily withheld, was about to board a Scoop Airways flight to Singapore when apprehended.
The suspect was reportedly involved in the illegal transportation of victims to the Middle Eastern country of Dubai to work as domestic helpers.
The suspect has a standing warrant of arrest issued by the Davao City Regional Trial Court for alleged illegal recruitment charges.
She was turned over to the National Bureau of Investigation and if found guilty, she could face up to 20 years imprisonment for violation of the Migration Workers and Overseas Filipino Law, or Republic Act No. 8042.
