The Wish Date concert on Sunday, Dec. 4, the fifth in a musical production series by Wish 107.5
and KDR Music House, is a concert of many firsts. The concert series goes out of town for the
first time and flies to SMX Convention Center in Davao City.
Indie singer and songwriter Peniel, who has performed on the Wish Date stage since its first show, welcomes the concert series to her hometown. Other local Davaoeño talents including bands Daybreak and Next Option is also performing alongside This Band and Kimberly Baluzo.
The concert also debuts an exclusive short film in between live performances of the OPM artists to further heighten its musical storytelling. The short film, starring Jameson Blake, Mary Joy Apostol, and Jana Indanan, tells the story of an unrequited love between their three characters.
Last Nov. 30, I sat on a Zoom call with the actors to chat about the short film and their experience of shooting together. Even through the laptop screen, the bond built between the three actors was evident.
Soon after we started the call, Indanan exclaimed that she misses filming with her two co-stars. Apostol chimed in with her agreement and Blake joked that they should have another shoot day that week.
“It was effortless to create a bond with each other,” Blake said about his co-stars.

Apostol even shared her impressions and experiences with them. “Parang nakita ko (kay Jana)
‘yung sarili ko nung nag-s-start pa lang ako. Nabigyan ko siya ng mga advice and experiences ko
before, and sobrang gaan niya ka-work. Si Jameson naman, sobrang gentleman. Magaan ka-
work din. Makikita mong passionate talaga siya sa work niya,” she said. Blake quipped after her,
which elicited laughter from everyone in the call, “Anong GCash number mo?”
Blake explained how important this filming experience was to him. “‘Pag happy and light ‘yung
set kasi, even though you’re having a bad day, it just changes everything. I was in a good mood
all the way to Hong Kong kahit na mukha akong zombie sa airport,” he said.
When asked how they related to the short film, Indana shared that she is every bit as studious
and positive as her character, Clara. “Na-ba-balance naman kahit papano kasi nag-e-enjoy ako,”
she said about balancing both her work and school “Gusto kong tapusin ‘yung pag-a-aral ko and
at the same time, pursue acting.”
Blake, meanwhile, recounted how he enjoyed playing a younger character. “I’m in my 20s, and I
handle relationships differently now. But I would say it’s cute and fun to go back and play the
teenage life, especially when it comes to relationships.”
