30% of Filipino adults say quality of life improved—SWS

Thirty percent of Filipino adults believed that their quality of life has improved in the past 12 months, based on the latest survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS).

The survey was done from Sept. 29 to Nov. 2 using face-to-face interviews. It involves 1,500 adults across the country, the SWS said. The result of the survey was released on Saturday, Dec. 3.

It was found that 30 percent said that their quality of life “was better than twelve months before,” 29 percent viewed that it “got worse (losers),” and 41 percent said “it was the same.”

The SWS used the term “gainers” to describe those who said that their lives got better, “losers” for those who believed that their lives got worse, and “unchanged” for those who think that their lives remained the same.

Hunger

It was also found in the survey that hunger was “greater” among losers, the SWS said.

“Hunger is significantly higher among Losers than among gainers and unchanged,” the SWS said.

“Involuntary hunger was 15.7 percent (13.2 percent moderate, 2.5 percent severe) among Losers, compared to 9.8 percent (7.5 percent moderate, 2.3 percent severe) among the Unchanged and 9.0 percent (7.4 percent moderate, 1.6 percent severe) among Gainers,” it added.

“Compared to June 2022, hunger fell from 10.9 percent among the Unchanged. However, it stayed at 9.0 percent among Gainers and rose from 14.9 percent among Losers,” it noted.
