Richard Clarin named GAB chairman

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. appointed Richard Santos Clarin as the new chairman of the Games and Amusement Board (GAB).

Malacañang announced this on Thursday, Dec. 29, with Clarin, a litigation and corporate lawyer, replacing Baham Mitra for the top post in the government’s regulating body for professional sports.

Other personalities who have been endorsed for the position particularly by sports legends, boxing champions and promoters were sports journalist Chino Trinidad.

Clarin’s appointment came a day after UAAP basketball commissioner Richard Bachmann was tapped as chairman of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), along with new commissioners Walter Torres and Edward Hayco.
