Northern Samar provincial board OKs P5,000 gratuity pay for job order, contractual employees

TACLOBAN CITY -- The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Northern Samar has approved the grant of gratuity pay to job order and contractual employees of the provincial government.

About 2,416 employees will receive gratuity pay of up to P5,000 per job order or contractual employee who has been in the service for four months as of Dec. 15, 2022.

The amount of gratuity pay may vary based on the guidelines set under Administrative Order No. 3 issued by the President.

Following the grant of Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) to regular and casual employees, job order and contractual employees of the provincial government also hoped to receive a similar benefit from the government.

Upon release of the guidelines, Gov. Edwin Ongchuan, through Vice Gov. Clarence Dato, immediately requested the SP to take on the matter in a special session.

Despite prior arrangements for the Christmas holidays, the SP convened to approve the grant of gratuity pay in a special session this week.

Last year, the provincial government also released gratuity pay to job order and contractual employees.
