The Marikina City local government announced on Wednesday, Dec. 28, that it has approved an ordinance exempting sari-sari store and carinderia owners from paying their business permits and business tax next year to help them cope with the effects of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
In a photo posted on its official Facebook page, Marikina City Mayor Marcelino "Marcy" Teodoro signed City Ordinance No. 199 Series of 2022 or the Ordinance Providing for Full Business Permit and Business Tax Exemption for Sari-Sari Stores and Carinderias in Marikina City for the Tax Year 2023.
"Samakatuwid, muling ipinagkakaloob ng Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Marikina sa pangunguna ni Mayor Marcy Teodoro ang 100 percent tax relief para sa Business Permit Fees at iba pang local regulatory fees and charges ng mga kwalipikadong sari-sari store at carinderia sa buong Lungsod ng Marikina (The city government of Marikina, under the leadership of Mayor Marcy Teodoro, gives the 100 percent tax relief for Business Permit Fees and other regulatory fees and charges to qualified sari-sari stores and carinderias in the city of Marikina)," the city government said.
Qualified sari-sari stores and carinderias include:
- Those who have a start-up capital not exceeding P10,000
- Those who have a yearly earning of not more than P180,000
- Those not selling cigarettes and liquor
