Former Bureau of Customs (BOC) executive Ariel Nepomuceno took the helm of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), a post which he used to head more than a decade ago.
Nepomuceno replaced Raymundo Ferrer in a turnover ceremony held on Thursday, Dec. 29. at the Department of National Defense (DND) office at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.
The OCD is the implementing arm of the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) which is chaired by the sitting Defense Secretary.
"The Office of Civil Defense welcomes its new administrator: Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuceno. As a seasoned public servant, Usec. Nepomuceno brings to OCD his years of administrative experience as well as the drive to further push the national resilience agenda to safeguard Filipino communities against the threats of disaster," a statement issued by the OCD read.
Nepomuceno was the OCD administrator from 2011 to 2012.
Prior to his appointment, he was the deputy commissioner for the Enforcement Group of the BOC.
"OCD also wishes to thank Undersecretary Raymundo Ferrer for his wise leadership and care for the agency and its all employees as well as his dedicated service in ensuring the protection and wellbeing of all Filipino communities against disasters during his memorable term," the OCD statement read.
